Regional Workshop at the State Archives of Public Organisations in Gomel Region
On 15 October 2013 the State Archives of Public Organisations in Gomel Region held a regional workshop for the representatives of public organisations and political parties who are the sources of records acquisition at this Archives.
The workshop organisers are the main justice administration of the Gomel Regional Executive Committee and the State Archives of Public Organisations in Gomel Region.
Participants at the workshop included representatives of the main justice administration of the Gomel Regional Executive Committee and the public organizations, the Belarusian Peace Foundation, the Phoenix Gomel City Center for the Ethical Treatment of Nature, the Belarusian Society of Invalids, the Hope for Children Foundation etc.
The work of the workshop was covered by radio and television broadcasts.
During the workshop the participants visited an exhibition of archival records.
The representatives of public organisations acquainted with the specially valuable documents, in particular those dated 1879 (“Political review of the Cherikov and Klimovichi districts, reports from the police administration of Mogilev, Bykhov, Orsha and Senno districts for 1879-1880”), documents from the fonds of the Historical-Party Division at the Gomel Province Committee of the Russian Communist Party of Bolsheviks.
The workshop included a trip to the archive’s storage facilities, during which the participants acquainted with the conditions of records storage. They had an opportunity to watch in practice the procedure for the issue of files from the archive’s repository. In addition, they visited repository № 4, in which the most valuable documents are held.
The archive’s high skilled specialists delivered informative lectures. During the studies the participants discussed issues of legislation observance in the field of archives and records management in the Republic of Belarus, the establishment of records retention schedules, preservation, appraisal, file classification plans etc. The archive’s laboratory staff carried out a practical study in the technical processing of records.
Additionally, the workshop included a round table which discussed the issues of further effective cooperation.
