The «Zonal State Archive in Krichev» held an event as part of the national «Archives to Schools» campaign and the «Young Archivist» pilot project

On October 4, 2026, in the lead-up to the Day of the October Revolution, the archive hosted an information session titled «The October Revolution: Pages of History» for 8th-grade students from Secondary School No.7 in Krichev. The event, organized under the national «Archives to Schools» campaign and the «Young Archivist» pilot project, also featured a photographic exhibition titled «Chronicles of the Great October: Frozen Moments».

Leading archivist Viktoria Kondratenko spoke to the students about the Day of the October Revolution — a state holiday. November 7, 1917, stands as a significant date in the annals of many nations, having shaped the course of world history. The October Revolution ushered in a new era in human development and ranks among the most consequential political events of the 20th century, profoundly influencing the trajectory of global history. While the Great October Socialist Revolution took place on October 25 (according to the Julian calendar), the transition to the Gregorian calendar in February 1918 shifted this date to November 7.

Exploring the history of this holiday offers a deeper understanding of our past and helps us make sense of the present. The ideals of unity, solidarity among working people, and human equality remain as relevant today as they were then.

The students were also shown the photographic exhibition «Chronicles of the Great October: Frozen Moments» — a reminder that every photograph serves as a document in which time has stood still. The students were invited to look into the past and witness history firsthand. These black-and-white photographs have preserved the atmosphere of years gone by.

To conclude the activities, the young people visited the archives storage area, where they saw how and where documents are kept.
