Participation of Staff from the State Archive of the Mogilev Region in the International Scientific and Practical Conference «Krychaw and Its District: The Region’s Historical and Cultural Heritage»

On September 24–25, 2026, the international scientific and practical conference «Krychaw and Its District: The Region’s Historical and Cultural Heritage» took place in Krychaw. The event marked the 890th anniversary of the district center. Participants included scholars and professional historians from Belarus and the Russian Federation, all united by their interest in Krychaw and its centuries-old history.

Staff members from the State Archive of the Mogilev Region also took part in the conference. Alexander Petukhov, Head of the Department for Scientific Use and Publication of Documents, delivered a presentation titled «Paleofauna Finds in the Vicinity of Krychaw». Alexei Shvyrev, an archivist (1st qualification category) from the same department, presented a video report titled «The Sanitary-Epidemiological Situation in the Krychaw District Following Liberation from Nazi Occupation».

The event showcased the rich and multifaceted history of the Krychaw district, drawing on archival documents among other sources. Plans are in place to publish a collection of conference proceedings featuring the best presentations.

Following the conference, Alexander Petukhov visited colleagues at the Zonal State Archive in Krychaw. He presented the Mogilev archivists with a copy of the book «Krychaw: There Is a Small Town on the Sozh River…».
