«Archives for Schools» Events at the State Archive of Public Associations of the Mogilev Region

As part of the 85th-anniversary commemorations of the defense of Mogilev and the «Archives for Schools» initiative, the State Archive of Public Associations of the Mogilev Region conducted seven tours during the third quarter of 2026. Participants included 2nd and 3rd-grade students from Secondary School No.40; 5th–7th and 10th-grade students from Secondary School No.41; and 1st and 2nd-year students from the Faculty of History and Philology at the A.A. Kuleshov Mogilev State University.

During the tours, the students learned about the archive’s history, its core activities, its collections and how to work with them, and the conditions under which documents are stored. They also viewed exhibitions displayed in the reading room: «The Defense of Mogilev», «The Partisan Movement», «Young Anti-Fascist Heroes of Our City», and «Genocide of the Belarusian People During the Great Patriotic War».

The youngest visitors were shown the animated film «Guardians of Memory», produced by the Zonal State Archive in Molodechno.The children were also invited to create drawings on the theme «The World Through Children’s Eyes», followed by a demonstration of how their artwork is mounted and bound into an official file.

Additionally, as part of the «Year of the Belarusian Woman» and the project «Belarusian Women: Remarkable Lives», students viewed a documentary exhibition in the reading room dedicated to Zinaida Kuzminichna Chumakova. She is an «Excellence in Education» awardee, an Honored Teacher of the Republic of Belarus, an Honorary Veteran Educator, and the Chair of the Mogilev City Branch of the «Belarusian Union of Women» public association.

The documentary film «Independence Day: A Chronicle of Belarusian Statehood» was screened during the tours.
