«National Unity Day as a Factor of National Pride»: Patriotic Events Held at the Zonal State Archive in Slutsk

On September 17, the Zonal State Archive in Slutsk hosted a series of patriotic events titled «National Unity Day as a Factor of National Pride» to mark the holiday. The events were attended by 7th and 8th-grade students from Secondary School No.2 and Secondary School No.13 in Slutsk.

Addressing the students, Archive Director Irina Antonovna Borodina emphasized that September 17 is not merely a date on the calendar, but an event that restored historical justice. The holiday symbolizes the inviolability of borders and the ethnic unity of the Belarusian people.

Irina Antonovna spoke about the historical background of the reunification of Belarusian lands, the consolidation of society, and the achievements of modern Belarus.

History bears undeniable witness: the existence of a strong nation-state is impossible without preserving the historical memory of those who made the ultimate sacrifice, and without a sense of respect and love for the compatriots who gave their lives for us—for the sake of a united and indivisible Belarus.

Thus, the September 17 holiday — National Unity Day — serves to strengthen national solidarity, ensuring that Belarus remains united and indivisible forever. Time itself restored this date to our calendar of state holidays, and the country’s citizens have embraced National Unity Day with their hearts.

During the events, students watched the documentary «Independence Day: Chronicles of Belarusian Statehood», produced by the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents (BGAKFFD). The film offered students a visual overview of the key stages in our country’s formation, the turning points in its history, and the severe trials the Belarusian people endured on the path to sovereignty.
