International Scientific and Practical Conference «Preservation of National Archival Holdings: Practices and Prospects» Held in Minsk

On September 10, 2026, the National Library of Belarus hosted the International Scientific and Practical Conference «Preservation of National Archival Holdings: Practices and Prospects» as part of the 22nd meeting of the Consultative Council of Heads of State Archival Services of the CIS Member States.

The plenary session was attended by the heads of archival services from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, the Russian Federation, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, as well as representatives of the CIS Executive Committee and heads of archival institutions from the Republic of Belarus. The event was held in a hybrid format (combining in-person and remote participation).

The conference focused on the following key themes:

– legal regulation and scientific-methodological support for the preservation of archival documents;
– modern methods for maintaining temperature, humidity, lighting, and security conditions for storage;
– current techniques for the restoration of archival documents;
– digital transformation of archives and ensuring the preservation of electronic documents;
– specialized methods for preserving film, photographic, and audio records, as well as scientific and technical documentation;
– international cooperation in ensuring the preservation of documents within national archival holdings.

Conference participants unanimously noted the high level of organization, the relevance of the topics addressed, and the practical focus of the event. Delegations from CIS countries emphasized the importance of holding such meetings regularly and expressed their readiness for continued cooperation.
