«Dozhinki» in Molodechno: An Exhibition for the 15th Anniversary of the National Agricultural Festival

Staff from the Zonal State Archives in Molodechno have prepared a documentary exhibition to mark the 15th anniversary of the «Dozhinki-2011» festival and fair of rural workers in Molodechno.

The fall of 2011 marked the turning point for Molodechno, a cozy town in the Minsk region, when it became the main agricultural capital of Belarus. For Molodechno, this event was not only a tribute to rural workers but also a powerful catalyst for development, leaving behind a significant infrastructural and cultural legacy.

Houses were renovated, streets, parks, and squares were landscaped, and the central and railway station squares were renovated. The city literally «dressed up»: new flowerbeds and hardscape were added, and the outdoor lighting was updated. For many residents, this was a chance to see their beloved city renewed and modern.

The main venue of the festival was a large-scale exhibition and fair. Machine operators, livestock breeders, plant breeders, and farm managers from all regions of the country gathered there. The achievements of agricultural science, the latest agricultural machinery, and traditional harvests of the fields were on display. The culmination of the business portion was the awards ceremony for the best rural workers.

An extensive cultural program was prepared for guests and residents of the city. The best creative groups from the region and the country performed on several stages, and folk songs and modern hits were performed. Exhibitions of folk art, master classes on traditional crafts, and tastings of Belarusian cuisine were also held. A spectacular fireworks display graced the evening sky over Molodechno, marking the finale of the festival.

Like any large-scale national event, «Dazhinki-2011» left behind not only a material legacy but also increased the recognition of MolodechNo.Today, years later, «Dazhinki-2011» is remembered as a shining example of how a traditional agricultural festival can become a growth point for an entire region, combining respect for the work of the grain grower, modern technology, and genuine public joy at the end of the season.
