Documentary exhibition «Leaders. Workers. Fates» at the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus

On August 24, 2026, the documentary exhibition «Leaders. Workers. Fates» opened at the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus. The exhibition tells the story of the outstanding women who built, restored, and glorified our country: from iconic statesmen and women toilers in the fields to heroic mothers of many children.

The exhibition’s central focus is on documents about the women who led the republic’s governance. The exhibition features archival documents about the lives and work of Nadezhda Grekova (Chairperson of the Supreme Soviet of the BSSR), Evdokia Uralova (Minister of Education, who initiated the inclusion of theses on the equality of men and women and equal pay in the preamble of the UN Charter and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights), Nina Snezhkova (Deputy Chairperson of the Council of Ministers of the BSSR), and Valentina Klochkova (Deputy Chairperson of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the BSSR). Their decisions shaped the country’s social and cultural policies for decades to come. Furthermore, the exhibition reveals rare evidence of the first female deputies of the Supreme Soviet of the BSSR of the first convocation, who laid the foundations of national statehood during a difficult historical period.

Separate sections of the exhibition are dedicated to women workers in the fields and heroines of industry. Archival documents transport us back to the era of monumental restoration and agricultural records. Documents, certificates of honor, and photographs tell the story of ordinary women workers whose hands raised agriculture, ensured food sovereignty, and laid the economic foundation of modern Belarus.

A deeply emotional section of the exhibition is dedicated to women awarded the highest honor—the title of “Mother Heroine.” Award certificates and touching photographs reveal the stories of mothers of many children who, during the difficult post-war years, raised worthy citizens, preserving warmth, love, and loyalty to family values ​​in their hearts.

The new exhibition aims to showcase the colossal contribution of Belarusian women to the development of society, highlighting their resilience, professionalism, and boundless spiritual strength.
