On the screening of the film «Independence Day: Chronicles of Belarusian Statehood» by the staff of the Belarusian Research Institute of Film, Photo, and Audio Documentation
On August 18, 2026, a group screening of the documentary «Independence Day: Chronicles of Belarusian Statehood» was held at the BelNIIDAD. It was prepared by specialists from the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Audio Documentation.
The film’s narrative covers both heroic and dramatic chapters of national history: from the vicissitudes of World War I, the Soviet modernization projects of the 1920s and 1930s, and the reunification of the Belarusian lands in 1939 to the anti-fascist resistance, post-war reconstruction of the national economy, and the accelerated industrial development of the 1960s and 1970s.
A significant place in the plot is devoted to the events associated with the acquisition and consolidation of Belarus’s independence, as well as the decisive role of the head of state, Alexander Lukashenko, in these political processes. BelNIIDAD Director A.E.Rybakov stated that videos of this genre are an effective tool for communicating the values of civil society, fulfilling a patriotic educational function for the younger generation, and simultaneously serving as a powerful means of popularizing the documents of the National Archival Fund of the Republic of Belarus.
