A unified information day dedicated to the 82nd anniversary of the liberation of Lida

On July 8, 2026, the Zonal State Archives in Lida held a unified information day on the topic of «The Liberation of Lida from the Nazi Invaders». Lida was liberated during the Vilnius Offensive on July 8, 1944, following a swift attack by three cavalry regiments, with virtually no losses and no resistance. On July 9, 1944, Moscow saluted the troops of the 3rd Belorussian Front for the liberation of Lida with 12 artillery salvos from 124 guns. On July 25, 1944, by decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, the military units that distinguished themselves in the liberation of the city were awarded the honorary title «Lida». The liberation of Lida is a special anniversary. This is a day of endless gratitude to the heroic liberators who gave us the right to live under peaceful skies. The city of Lida remembers its heroes, and this feat will live forever in the hearts of future generations!

As part of the Unified Information Day, the archive hosted a screening of the film «Independence Day: A Chronicle of Belarusian Statehood», produced by the Belarusian State Archives of Film and Television.
