Participation of BGAMLI in the International Round Table «Audiovisual Documents as a Historical Source»

On June 18, 2026, the director of the Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Art (hereinafter – BGAMLI) E.A.Makarenko and the leading archivist of the department of information and search systems and automated archival technologies E.A.Lukina took part and gave speeches at the International Round Table «Audiovisual Documents as a Historical Source» for the 85th anniversary of the Belarusian State Archive of Film and Photographic Documents (hereinafter – BHAKFFD).

Scientists and archivists from Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan took part in the round table.

The dean of the Faculty of History of BSU, Professor A.G.Kokhanovsky, the Director of the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus O.L.Voinov, the Head of the Department of Source Studies of the Faculty of History of BSU, Professor S.N.Khodin gave a welcome speech to the participants of the round table.

Plenary reports were presented by A.N.Honchar, director of the BHAKFFD, together with M.D.Romanova, head of the Department of Russian History of the History Faculty of BSU, professor O.A.Yanovsky, professor of the Department of Source Studies of the BSU History Faculty, professor M.F.Shumeiko and professor of the Russian Humanitarian University, first deputy chairman of the Board of the Russian Society of Historians-Archivists, doctor of historical sciences, associate professor G.N.Lanskoi.

The work of the International Round Table took place at a high scientific level, issues were discussed about the peculiarities of storage, description and use of audiovisual documents, the use of artificial intelligence when working with them.

Within the framework of this event, E.A.Makarenko, who is the chairman of the Board of the Belarusian Society of Archivists, managed to establish contacts with the Russian Society of Historians-Archivists and outline further ways of cooperation.
