Participation of the National Historical Archives of Belarus in the Documentary Exhibition «Notaries of Belarus: Through the Lens of Time»

On June 11, 2026, the National Historical Archives of Belarus participated in the documentary exhibition «Notaries of Belarus: Through the Lens of Time» as part of a joint meeting of the boards of the Ministry of Justice and the State Property Committee. The exhibition was held at the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice (5 Myasnikova Street, Minsk).

Deputy Director of the National Historical Archives of Belarus Sergei Ryndin presented to the participants and guests of the event documents from the 19th and early 20th centuries, reflecting the development of the notary profession in Belarus. It was during this historical period that the notary profession emerged as a distinct profession in our country. The earliest document in the exhibition dates back to 1801. These are entries in the book of a Minsk public notary for the debt obligations of nobles. The institution of notaries, formed during the Russian Empire, existed with some modifications until the revolutionary events of 1917, after which a new stage in the development of the Soviet notarial system began. The exhibition displays the text of the «oath» of public notaries from the mid-19th century, notary service certificates, protocols for their performance reviews and examinations for notary candidates, a sample notary seal from the late 19th century, a sample certificate from the Minsk Notary Archive from the early 20th century, and a number of other documents.
