The State Archives of the Minsk Region presents the film «Archive.Life» for International Archives Day

International Archives Day is celebrated annually on June 9. The holiday was established in 2007 by the International Council on Archives. The date commemorates the founding of this organization under the auspices of UNESCO in 1948. Its main goal is to raise public and policy awareness of the importance of document preservation, historical memory, and access to information.

In anticipation of International Archives Day, the State Archives of the Minsk Region has prepared a special creative gift – the documentary film «Archive.Life». The project is unique in its format: the filmmakers took to the streets of the city to find out what ordinary passersby think about the work of archivists, and then lifted the veil of secrecy and revealed the real-life everyday lives of the institution’s employees. This vibrant new film not only shatters common stereotypes but also vividly demonstrates that preserving history is a vibrant, modern, and incredibly engaging process.
