A tour of the Central Laboratory as part of the «Archives for School» campaign

International Archives Week is an annual global event marking International Archives Day, celebrated on June 9. During this period, archival institutions around the world hold educational events, exhibitions, open days, and master classes to highlight the importance of preserving historical and cultural heritage.

On the eve of International Archives Week, students from Minsk Gymnasium No.14 visited the Central Laboratory for Document Preservation of the National Archival Fund of the Republic of Belarus.

Laboratory specialists explained the laboratory’s work on preserving archival documents. In the departments of restoration and conservation of documents, binding and biological control, and digitization and microfilming, the students witnessed firsthand how specialists restore damaged documents to their original appearance, bind them, and create a backup collection on photographic film using unique equipment.
