Grand Opening of the Exhibition «State and Official Heraldic Symbols»

On May 14, 2026, the National Library of Belarus hosted the grand opening of the exhibition «State and Official Heraldic Symbols», dedicated to the Day of the State Flag, State Emblem, and National Anthem of the Republic of Belarus.

The exhibition features the standard State Emblem and State Flag of the Republic of Belarus, housed in the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus, as well as the coats of arms and flags of regions and cities, and emblems and badges of state bodies, departments, and public associations, all of which are housed in the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus.

Minister of Justice Yevgeny Kovalenko addressed the audience with a welcoming speech. In his address, he noted that «the State Emblem, National Anthem, and State Flag of the Republic of Belarus are not simply three different symbols. They are a single, living, and inviolable image of our sovereign country». They reflect the fundamental national and spiritual values of Belarusians: civic unity, hard work, peace-loving nature, sovereignty and territorial integrity, well-being and prosperity, and the desire to live in peace and harmony with all countries».

Also speaking at the event were Andrei Frantsevich Matelsky, Chairman of the National Center for Legislation and Legal Information, and Lyudmila Yulyanovna Vysotskaya, Deputy Director General of the National Library of Belarus.

The exhibition was presented by Marina Yelinskaya, Senior Researcher at the Belarusian Research Institute of Documentation and Archival Science, PhD in History, and member of the Heraldic Council under the President of the Republic of Belarus.

Following the exhibition’s grand opening, a meeting of the interdepartmental working group for the preparation of the draft Law of the Republic of Belarus «On Amending Laws Regarding Official Heraldic Symbols» was held, attended by Oleg Leonidovich Voinov, Director of the Department.
