Students of Rechitsa Secondary School No.8 Learned About the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant Accident
On April 24, 2026, as part of the «Archives for School» campaign, staff from the Zonal State Archives in Rechitsa held an informational hour, «At the Epicenter of Chernobyl», with students from Rechitsa Secondary School No.8. To inform the audience about the events caused by the Chernobyl disaster, a documentary film by the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents, «Chernobyl: Chronicles of a Tragedy», was shown. Following this, the students learned about the contribution of the then Rechitsa State Archives staff to the evacuation and rescue of documents from liquidated enterprises and organizations in the exclusion zone of the Bragin and Khoyniki districts, and about the heroism of firefighter-liquidator and archive creator Vasily Ignatenko.
