«Young Archivist»: A Lesson in Memory of the Chernobyl Tragedy

On April 23, 2026, as part of the «Archives for School» campaign and the «Young Archivist» pilot project, a regular meeting was held between staff of the Zonal State Archives in Rechitsa and senior students from the Peresvyatovskaya Basic School in the Rechitsa District. In anticipation of the 40th anniversary of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident, the audience was shown a documentary film from the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents, «Chernobyl: Chronicles of a Tragedy», which recreates the chronology of events that occurred in 1986. Archivists also informed the students about the documents on the Chernobyl tragedy held in the Rechitsa State Archives and introduced them to these documents.
