Gomel Region State Archives Participate in Regional Radio News Program
On April 22, Irina Vladimirovna Zhineva and Yuri Vasilyevich Shestopalov, directors of the Gomel Region State Archives, took part in the «Pravda Guest» news program in the studio of Pravda Radio, a regional radio station hosted by the Gomelskaya Pravda newspaper. The program was dedicated to two dates, each of which left an indelible mark on the history of our country and the world.
April 22 marks the 156th anniversary of Vladimir Ilyich Lenin’s birth. Lenin’s name is inextricably linked with revolutionary change, the building of a new state, and ideas that continue to spark heated debate and rethinking.
And just a few days later, on April 26, we will commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster. An event that became a tragic lesson for all of humanity, a reminder of the fragility of our world and the price we pay for mistakes.
During the live broadcast, the leaders told listeners about documents stored in state archives that tell the story of those years, as well as about the events being held by archival institutions to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident. In conclusion, they wished the young people to remember their history, to understand how fragile our security is and how important it is to protect it.
