The Belarusian State Archives and Museum of Literature and Art (BSAMLI) congratulated the Yanka Kupala Institute of Literary Studies on its 95th anniversary

On April 15, 2026, E.A.Makarenko, Director of the Belarusian State Archives and Museum of Literature and Art (hereinafter referred to as BSAML), took part in the opening ceremony of the International Academic Conference «The Belarusian Literary Process: Traditions and Modernity». The scientific forum was dedicated to a significant date – the 95th anniversary of the Yanka Kupala Institute of Literary Studies (a branch of the Center for Research on Belarusian Culture, Language, and Literature of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus).

O.N.Popko, Director of the Center for Research on Belarusian Culture, Language, and Literature of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, addressed the conference participants and guests with a welcoming address, noting the importance of fundamental scholarship in preserving national identity.

In her speech, A.A.Makarenko emphasized the long-standing and fruitful collaboration between the archives and museum and academic scholarship. She noted that it is at the intersection of archival work and literary studies that profound research is born. As a symbolic gift for the institution’s anniversary, Elena Alexandrovna presented the institute with a copy of the representative publication of the Belarusian State Archives of the Literary and Historical Literature (BSAMLI), «A Treasury of National Literature and Art». This book is a unique reflection of the richness of the archive-museum’s collections.

The ceremony also marked the presentation of certificates of gratitude to the institute’s staff, who make significant contributions to the joint work and actively collaborate with the BSAMLI in the study of archival heritage. Among the recipients of the awards were Junior Research Fellow D.M.Drozd in the Department of Theory and History of Literature and Research Fellow V.F.Nazarov in the Department of Publications and Textual Criticism. The BSAMLI’s participation in such events once again confirms the inseparable connection between the custodians of documentary heritage and the scholars who transform archival treasures into national treasures. The teams have many more joint projects ahead aimed at popularizing the Belarusian language.
