On April 3, 2026, a meeting was held at the State Archives of the Gomel Region between archivists, historians, local historians, educators, ideologists, and youth workers from the Gomel Region. The meeting was opened by Archive Director Yury Shestopalov. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of ideological work with young people to preserve historical memory. As the primary custodians of documentary heritage, archives play a key role in popularizing historical facts and fostering patriotic education among young people. Specialists from the State Archives of the Gomel Region actively participate in events for Gomel students. Archivists briefed the guests on the work of the departments responsible for document acquisition, storage, and use. Second-category archivist Anastasia Artemyeva discussed the sources of the archival collection. Victoria Rudenko, a first-category archivist, spoke about the biography of Anatoly Dmitrievich Karasev, a historian and archivist and director of the regional archives. The presentation was accompanied by a virtual exhibition of archival documents from A.D.Karasev’s personal collection. Specialist Maya Vashchenko described the work of the archive’s reading room, where events for schoolchildren and students are held. She presented a video, «Living Memory», created by the archive’s staff using artificial intelligence, dedicated to the famous partisan Varvara Petrovna Vyrvich. The exhibition of filtration files on repatriated Soviet citizens generated genuine interest. She answered numerous questions arising from viewing these unique documents.
