The National Historical Archives of Belarus celebrated Unity Day of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia
On April 2, a staff meeting was held at the National Historical Archives of Belarus to celebrate Unity Day of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia.
The keynote address was given by Erofei Moryakov, Head of the Automated Archival Technologies Department. In his presentation, he detailed the history of the formation of the Union State, emphasizing the inextricable link between the destinies of the two peoples and the role of archival institutions in preserving their shared documentary heritage.
Commenting on the significance of the holiday, Mikhail Glushakov, Director of the Archives, noted that Unity Day is more than just a calendar date. For archivists, it is a symbol of shared historical memory, which we carefully preserve in our collections. Collaboration with our Russian colleagues allows us to uncover new chapters in our past and build a future together, based on the foundation of friendship and mutual respect. It is symbolic and significant that the presentation was given by a young archival employee. This confirms the continuity of generations: young people not only preserve documents of the past but also sincerely share the values of friendship and mutual respect between the two peoples.
The meeting concluded with a lively discussion of the presentation. It was noted that the participation of young workers in covering such significant events allows for a fresh perspective on familiar topics.
E.Moryakov’s initiative was a striking example of how, for young people, Unity Day is not just a formal date, but also a real opportunity to delve deeper into the shared history that binds our peoples.
