The State Archive of Public Associations of the Gomel Region hosted an event for students of the Gomel State Engineering College
On March 27, 2026, the State Archive of Public Associations of the Gomel Region hosted an event for students of the Gomel State Engineering College dedicated to the tragic genocide of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War.
The students had a unique opportunity to examine archival documents that testify to the inhumane scale of the genocide of civilians in the Gomel Region. They were also presented with materials from the personal collections of WWII veterans, preserving the living memory of those horrific events.
Particular attention was paid to the «Red Coast» memorial complex, erected on the site of one of the largest children’s donor concentration camps in Belarus, where children’s blood was collected for German soldiers and officers during the Great Patriotic War. As part of the event, archivists organized a screening of a video from the «Ordinary Genocide: Red Coast» project, which includes the recollections of surviving children, former prisoners of this concentration camp.
