A National Archives of Belarus employee attended the opening of the exhibition «Saving Europe. 110 Years of the Naroch Offensive»
On March 18, 2026, Olga Volkova, a leading researcher at the National Historical Archives of Belarus, attended the grand opening of the temporary exhibition «Saving Europe. 110 Years of the Naroch Offensive». The exhibition took place at the National History Museum of the Republic of Belarus and commemorates one of the largest and most tragic events of World War I in Belarusian lands – the 110th anniversary of the Naroch Offensive Operation (March 1916). Bloody, large-scale battles unfolded in the area of Lake Naroch, tying down significant German forces and preventing them from achieving a decisive victory in France, at Verdun. The Naroch Offensive became an example of the dedication of soldiers and officers, directly influencing the course of the entire European campaign. The experience gained at Naroch was later used by General A.A.Brusilov during the preparations for the famous Brusilov Offensive. The opening of the exhibition is an important step in cementing the memory of the events of World War I in Belarusian society.
