Presentation of the exhibition «Kondrat Krapiva: Life in Documents and Facts» at the Department of Archives and Records Management

On March 16, 2026, the Belarusian State Archives-Museum of Literature and Art (hereinafter referred to as BSAMA) presented the literary and documentary exhibition «Kondrat Krapiva: Life in Documents and Facts», dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the birth of the people’s writer of Belarus. The presentation took place at the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus.

The event was opened by Oleg Leonidovich Voinov, Director of the Department of Archives and Records Management. In his opening remarks, he emphasized the significance of Kondrat Krapiva as one of the founders of modern Belarusian literature and noted the exceptional role of archival institutions in preserving and promoting national cultural heritage.

Vera Valentinovna Birulya, the exhibition curator and Head of the Department of Information, Publication, and Use of Documents, introduced the exhibit to those in attendance. She drew particular attention to the uniqueness of the materials on display: while the writer’s personal collection is absent from the archive-museum, more than 500 archival documents are held in the collections of his contemporaries—famous Belarusian writers, literary scholars, theater figures, and artists.

The exhibition covers biographical information about the writer, his work during the Great Patriotic War, his family and social life, and his dramatic work. The exhibition is complemented by photographs of K. Krapiva in informal settings and humorous caricatures, allowing visitors to see him from different perspectives. The documents on display sparked genuine interest among those present.

The literary and documentary exhibition «Kondrat Krapiva: Life in Documents and Facts» is a wonderful opportunity for lovers of Belarusian literature to experience the life and work of this great writer, whose words remain poignant and relevant even today.
