On February 26, 2026, the Museum of the History of Belarusian Cinema, a branch of the National History Museum of the Republic of Belarus, hosted the opening of the temporary exhibition «Light of a Painted Childhood», dedicated to the 55th anniversary of Belarusian animation.
Belarusian animation is a unique and distinctive world where tradition and innovation, artistic expression and cultural values intertwine. Since its inception, it has established itself as an important part of national art, capable of not only entertaining but also conveying profound ideas and feelings.
One of the key features of Belarusian animation is its attention to cultural heritage and folklore. Animators often draw inspiration from folk tales, myths, and legends, which imbues their works with a unique flavor and allows them to preserve and pass on the richness of Belarusian culture to future generations.
The exhibition features unique archival documents from the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus (NARB), items from the collections of the National History Museum of the Republic of Belarus, and materials provided by the Animation Studio of the Belarusfilm National Film Studio.
The «Light of a Painted Childhood» exhibition features original sketches, scripts, posters, and other materials that will help visitors better understand the process of creating animated masterpieces, as well as the works of renowned Belarusian animators and talented artists whose creations have left their mark on the history of animation.
The exhibition is an excellent opportunity to immerse yourself in the fascinating world of animation, exploring its history, development, and current status in Belarus.
