On November 26, 2025, Archive Director Yuri Shestopalov and Senior Researcher Maya Vashchenko took part in a dialogue platform held at Gomel Secondary School No.75.

The dialogue platform, which was attended by high school students, was conducted in the form of a quiz. Based on their answers, the best participants were selected and awarded small commemorative gifts. Archive Director Yuri Shestopalov told the students about the documents stored in the regional archive on the military events surrounding the liberation and restoration of the city.

«The current generation is responsible for the memory of the heroes of that war. Without the memory of the past, there is no future. The current generation is obligated to honor and respect all those who defended the independence of our native land», – said Yuri Shestopalov.

Senior researcher Maya Vaschenko told the students about how Gomel was demined after its liberation. A documentary film about the liberation of Gomel was shown to the students by the BGAKFFD. Participants observed a moment of silence in memory of those who died in the Great Patriotic War.
