On the participation of the State Archive of Public Associations of the Gomel Region in a dialogue platform

On November 25, 2025, a significant dialogue platform dedicated to one of the key events in the city’s history – its liberation – was held at the Gomelenergo State Unitary Enterprise. The event brought together the administration and active youth of the Gomel energy system, creating a unique opportunity to exchange opinions and deepen knowledge of the heroic past.

The archive’s director presented the film «Liberation», produced by the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents as part of the «Open Film Archive: We Brought This Day Closer as Best We Could» project. Footage brought to life on the screen transported those present to the harsh years of war, allowing them to experience the full drama and heroism of the struggle for Gomel’s liberation. This wasn’t just a screening, but a immersion into the past, an opportunity to touch upon the heroism of those who, through incredible effort, restored peaceful skies over their hometown.

Also on display for all those present was the exhibition project «The Gomel People’s Militia Regiment: History, Feat, Memory», dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Gomel’s liberation from Nazi invaders and telling the story of the creation, activities, organizers, and participants of the Gomel People’s Militia Regiment.

At the conclusion of the event, Irina Vladimirovna donated collections of documents to the Gomelenergo RUE, covering the socioeconomic and political development of the Gomel Region in the post-war decades, prepared by the state archive of public associations.
