A joint Belarusian-Uzbek roundtable discussion on «Acquisition of Archival Collections of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Belarus» was held
On November 19, 2025, a joint Belarusian-Uzbek roundtable discussion on «Acquisition of Archival Collections of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Belarus» was held at the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus (hereinafter NARB). This event was the first under the Roadmap between archivists of the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Uzbekistan, signed in the fall of 2025.
Oleg Leonidovich Voinov and Ulugbek Mirtalibovich Yusupov, heads of the archival services of the two countries, welcomed the participants. They outlined the main areas of work of archival institutions in the area of acquisition and emphasized the importance of cooperation and exchange of experience. On the Belarusian side, reports were presented by T.A.Shevchenko, Head of the Records Management and Collection Formation Department of the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus, and M.D.Romanova, Chief Curator of the Belarusian State Archives of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents. They shared their archival institutions’ experiences in acquisitions, identified problem areas, and proposed solutions.
On the Uzbek side, speakers included M.S.Isakova, Senior Researcher at the National Archives of Uzbekistan, Doctor of Historical Sciences, and Z.M.Suleimanova, Head of the Scientific Reference and Methodological Work Department at the National Archives of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents of Uzbekistan, who described the experience of Uzbek archivists in document acquisition.
