Documents on the Liberation of the Gomel Region from the Nazi Invaders from the Collections of the Zonal State Archives in Rechitsa

On November 18, 1943, the regional center of Rechitsa was liberated from the Nazi invaders. This event is described in the Sovinformburo report of November 18, 1943 (F.163. Op.1. D.1. L.33): «Troops of the Belorussian Front, as a result of a rapid advance of mobile units and infantry on the night of November 18, after three days of fierce fighting, captured the city of Rechitsa». That same day, continuing their offensive, the Red Army expelled the Nazis from a number of settlements in the service area of the Rechitsa State Archives, including Vasilevichi, Balashevka, Budka-Shibenka, Starokrasnoye, Novokrasnoye, Vasilkovo, and Golovki in the Rechitsa District; Old Khrakovichi and New Khrakovichi, Bragin District.
