Documentary Exhibition «October Revolution. Pages of History»
On November 6, 2025, the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus hosted the opening of the exhibition «October Revolution. Pages of History», prepared by the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus (hereinafter NARB) and the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents.
The October Revolution of 1917 was one of the most significant political events of the 20th century, influencing the subsequent course of world history. It presented an opportunity for our republic to create a real state on the Soviet foundation. Many of the social achievements achieved by the Bolshevik Party now form the foundations of social policy in the Republic of Belarus.
In December 1917, the Regional Executive Committee of the Soviets of Workers’, Soldiers’, and Peasants’ Deputies of the Western Region and the Front was established in Minsk as the highest organ of Soviet power in Belarus. Under the leadership of Soviet and party organizations, revolutionary transformations were carried out: banks and industry were nationalized, workers’ control over production and distribution was established, the eight-hour workday was introduced, landowners’ lands were confiscated, the first collective farms were established, the school network was expanded, free education was introduced, and efforts to eradicate adult illiteracy were launched.
The exhibition features documents from the National Archive of the Republic of Belarus that reflect the course of the October Revolution in Belarus. Of particular interest are posters, leaflets, telegrams, memoirs of participants in the events, appeals from various political parties, as well as photographs from the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents, documenting the revolutionary events in our country.
