Born in Vilnius, he enrolled in the Warsaw Conservatory (piano class). In 1939, while on vacation in Vilnius, he learned of the occupation of Poland and decided to continue his studies at the Minsk Conservatory. During the war, he was evacuated to Gorky. After the war, he returned to Minsk and devoted himself entirely to composing. His creative legacy includes four symphonies, overtures, and other pieces for orchestra; a piano concerto; chamber instrumental music, and others.
