New acquisition of documents from the personal archive of Leonid Aleksandrovich Ulashchenko at the Belarusian State Archives and Museum of Literature and Art (BSAMLI)

On November 4, 2025, the collections of the Belarusian State Archives and Museum of Literature and Art (hereinafter referred to as BSAMLI) were expanded for the first time with the family archive of Leonid Aleksandrovich Ulashchenko, a leading stage performer, renowned theater, film, and television actor, and Honored Artist of the Republic of Belarus.

L.A.Ulashchenko was born on August 29, 1941. He graduated from the Belarusian Theatre and Arts Institute in 1965. For over sixty years, he worked at the Belarusian State Academic Youth Theatre, where he played numerous roles not only for children but also for adults.

But he is known for more than just an actor. L.A. Ulashchenko continues to actively collaborate with and author publications for the magazine «Vyasyolka». He translated remarkable Russian children’s classics (K.Chukovsky, S.Marshak), wrote and published three collections of children’s fairy tales. He worked on radio, hosting a series of programs, including «Rymus’s Children’s Tales», «The Cotton Ball from the Mishinites», and «Cossack Litars».

Since 1972, he began acting in films, where he played over 100 roles. His filmography includes 62 roles in various projects.

He has received numerous certificates and awards from the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus, the Department of Culture of the Minsk Regional Executive Committee, diplomas from festivals and festivals, diplomas and awards from the Union of Theatre Workers of Belarus, as well as the medal «For Valiant Labor» in honor of the 100th anniversary of V.I.Lenin’s birthday and the badge «For Contribution to the Development of Belarusian Culture». The documents comprise biographical and creative materials, including the actor’s memoirs, texts and translations of fairy tales, scripts, images of scenes from performances, and personal photographs.
