Director of the National Historical Archives of Belarus, Mikhail Glushakov, Participates in a Press Conference for Archivist’s Day
On September 29, 2025, Director of the National Historical Archives of Belarus, Mikhail Glushakov, participated in a press conference dedicated to Archivist’s Day. The event took place at the National Press Center (5 Oktyabrskaya Street, Minsk).
Oleg Voinov, Director of the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus, heads of national archival institutions, and representatives of leading national print and electronic media outlets were invited to participate in the press conference.
In his speech, Glushakov briefed the audience on significant events recently held at the National Historical Archives of Belarus to improve the preservation of documents and collections. The archive has installed a new automatic gas fire suppression system, benefiting from allocated government funds. The adjacent territory has been landscaped. The ventilation and air conditioning systems for the archive storage facilities are currently being modernized. An access control system has been installed, and the video surveillance system has been upgraded. Mikhail Glushakov described the condition of the reading rooms and spoke about the digitization of archival documents, for which expensive, modern scanning equipment was purchased with government support. Particular mention was made of the archive’s fulfillment of requests for biographical, thematic, and genealogical research, which are in high demand among the public. Glushakov also discussed the archive’s tour, exhibition, research, and publication activities.
