Belarus Publishing House has published two popular science books in the «History for Schoolchildren» series, prepared by the National Historical Archives of Belarus with the support of the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus.

The book «The First World War on Belarusian Lands» is dedicated to the lives of the people of Belarus during the First World War, which lasted from 1914 to 1918. In 1915, the front line of military operations stretched across our land, resulting in 25% of its territory being under foreign occupation. The publication illuminates the preconditions and causes of this armed conflict, unprecedented in world history, the military operations on Belarusian territory, and the enormous impact of the war on all aspects of life in the Belarusian lands.

The book «Photography on Belarusian Lands in the 19th – Early 20th Centuries». The book tells the story of the emergence of the first photography workshops and the work of the first photographers in Belarus, the spread of photography in the Belarusian provinces in the 19th and early 20th centuries, and the contribution of Belarusians to the development of photography.

The narrative in both books is based on rich illustrative material from the collections of the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents and the National Historical Archives of Belarus.
