The State Archives of the Vitebsk Region organized events dedicated to National Unity Day at institutions in Vitebsk

On September 17, National Unity Day, the State Archives of the Vitebsk Region organized events dedicated to the historical foundations of the holiday at institutions in Vitebsk.

The events were organized at the Vitebsk Regional Office of the Department of State Labor Inspection of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Republic of Belarus; the State Institution «Vitebsk Zonal Center of Hygiene and Epidemiology»; and the Vitebsk branch of the Republican Unitary Enterprise «Belpochta».

The holiday symbolizes the unity of the Belarusian people and the continuity of generations. It reflects historical justice for the Belarusian people, who were divided in 1921 under the terms of the Treaty of Riga. On September 17, 1939, the country’s territorial unity was restored.

In sovereign Belarus, National Unity Day was established by Decree No.206 of the President of the Republic of Belarus dated June 7, 2021.

As part of the events dedicated to National Unity Day, a film screening of «Reunification» from the collections of the Belarusian State Film and Photo Archives was held, accompanied by a speech by Tatyana Vladimirovna Buevich, Deputy Director of the State Archives of the Vitebsk Region.
