The Rechitsa Zonal State Archives presents a document on the participants of the Great Patriotic War buried in the Bragin District
The Rechitsa State Archives permanently stores a book of records of military cemeteries, mass and individual graves of servicemen, partisans and civilians who died during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, according to the former Pirkov village council of the Bragin district for 1958 (F. 104. Op. 1. D. 32a). The book includes a list of Red Army soldiers and partisans of the Kotsyubinsky detachment who died in battles for the Soviet Motherland and were buried in a mass grave in the village of Pirki (in 1986, the village was resettled as a result of the Chernobyl accident). Among them are Heroes of the Soviet Union Corporal Vasily Fyodorovich Zagaynov and Private Sergei Kupriyanovich Golovashenko, Guards Private Aleksey Petrovich Zhukov (his individual photograph is kept in the book), Lieutenant Ivan Maksimovich Kamezhuk (an article about him was published in the July 24, 2025 issue of the regional newspaper «Gomelskaya Pravda») and many others.
