Working visit of the Director of the NATIV Liaison Bureau of the Office of the Prime Minister of the State of Israel Alon Shoham to the Republic of Belarus

On August 19, 2025, a meeting was held between the First Deputy Minister of Justice of the Republic of Belarus N.N. Filippova and the Israeli delegation led by the Director of the NATIV Liaison Bureau of the Office of the Prime Minister of the State of Israel A. Shoham.

The Director of the Department of Archives and Records Management of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus O.L. Voinov took part in the Belarusian delegation.

The purpose of the meeting was to establish direct contact, as well as to intensify cooperation in the field of preserving historical memory.

At the meeting, the parties noted the results of long-term cooperation in preserving historical memory and the systematic work of the archives of the Republic of Belarus to popularize documents reflecting the memory of not only the Holocaust, but also the life of the Jewish population in Belarus.

The Israeli delegation emphasized their interest in further deepening and intensifying cooperation on archival matters, proposing to work out specific plans for bilateral cooperation in the near future. This initiative was received positively. The openness of the Belarusian side to the initiatives of Israeli partners aimed at preserving historical memory was noted. As part of the information support for the meeting, the National Archives of the Republic of Belarus, together with the Belarusian State Archive of Film, Photo, and Sound Documents, presented a documentary exhibition «Tragedy and Heroism of the Jews of Belarus during the Great Patriotic War», as well as a banner exhibition «Without Statute of Limitations. Belarus»
