BGAMLI continues to introduce its documents to readers of the Minsk-Novosti portal

The Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Art (hereinafter referred to as BGAMLI) continues to work on popularizing archival work and its documents in the media.

On June 22, 2025, BGAMLI Director Elena Aleksandrovna Makarenko gave an extensive interview to the correspondent of the «Minsk-Novosti» news agency, Olga Ropot, about the activities of the archive-museum in connection with the significant anniversary of the institution – its 65th anniversary. On August 6, 2025, the portal «Minsk-Novosti» published the second part of the interview with Olga Ropot with the head of the department of scientific description of documents of personal origin of the Belarusian State Archive-Museum of Literature and Art Olga Fedorovna Shatalova under the title «They have the skills of paleography. The BDAMLM told about the letter by Chagall and the fund with illegible handwriting».

During the interview, Olga Fedorovna told about the unique documents stored in the archive-museum, including the letter of Marc Chagall, discovered during the scientific description of the documents of the fund of the art historian Sendar Palees. What difficulties do workers and researchers face when working with the manuscripts of famous cultural figures. She paid special attention to working with the documents of the poet, translator Naum Kislik and the literary scholar, archaeologist Gennady Kiselev.
