Initiation of archivists took place in the State Archives of the Minsk Region

On August 1, 2025, a ceremonial initiation of young specialists into archivists took place in the State Archives of the Minsk Region.

The event began with an opening speech by the director of the archive, Yulia Romashko, in which she spoke about the history of the archive and the stages of its formation, the main areas of work and prospects for the development of the archival industry.

Tatyana Slutskaya, head of the department for ensuring the preservation of documents and funds of the archive, who has worked in the archival industry for more than thirty years, addressed the younger generation with parting words. Tatyana Mikhailovna noted the uniqueness of the archivist profession, which allows one to come into contact with genuine documentary sources – witnesses of the historical memory of generations.

Then, according to established tradition, the initiation of young specialists into archivists took place. They were asked to pass tests, answering questions on history and archival science, which they coped with brilliantly.

As a sign of their dedication to their chosen profession, all the initiating employees took the «Archivist’s Oath», promising to make every effort to increase the documentary heritage of the Minsk region and to do everything so that the knowledge accumulated by our predecessors could serve the benefit of society and the state.

At the end of the initiation, the newly-minted archivists received archivist certificates and memorable gifts.

Also, the head of the department for the use and publication of documents, Kristina Babrovich, acquainted the archivists with the unique archival documents stored in the archive funds, and with the publications prepared by the archive employees.
