Outstanding People of Belarus: employees of the Zonal State Archives in Molodechno have prepared a virtual exhibition dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the birth of the honorary citizen of the district Vladimir Mikhailovich Kalachik

Employees of the Zonal State Archives in Molodechno have prepared a virtual exhibition dedicated to Vladimir Mikhailovich Kalachik – the symbol of an entire era, candidate of economic sciences, talented agrarian and manager . He was the first to be awarded the title of «Honorary Citizen of the Molodechno District» in 2000.

Vladimir Mikhailovich Kalachik was born on July 24, 1930 in the village of Moroski, Molodechno District, Minsk Region. From 1937 to 1944, he studied at Moroskov Elementary School and Lebedev Secondary School. In 1950, he joined the Voroshilov collective farm. In May 1957, the RK LKSMB Bureau recommended Vladimir Mikhailovich for the post of chairman of the then still weak collective farm «Svetly Put» of the Molodechno district of the Molodechno region, where he worked until February 1988. During his leadership, the collective farm became one of the best.

By the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of April 30, 1966, Vladimir Mikhailovich was awarded the title of Hero of Socialist Labor with the presentation of the Order of Lenin and the gold medal «Hammer and Sickle».

In 1969, he was elected a member of the Council and a member of the Presidium of the Union Council of Kolkhoz Workers, and was also repeatedly elected as a deputy of the regional, district and village Councils.

Vladimir Kalachik is a man who tried to improve the lives of ordinary people. During his work on the collective farm and thanks to his efforts, one secondary and two primary schools, a nursery school, three libraries, a community center with a stationary film projector, two clubs, a clinic, a hotel, a shopping center, a restaurant, two stores, a bathhouse and a consumer services center appeared. And the villages of Zaskovichi and Turets-Boyary, which were built according to the general plan, turned into modern, well-maintained rural settlements. Also thanks to his efforts, churches were built in the villages of Benitsa, Moroski and Zaskovichi.

On the eve of National Unity Day in 2023, a ceremonial opening of a memorial plaque in memory of Vladimir Mikhailovich Kalachik took place on the building of the Lebedevskaya secondary school of the Molodechno district, which bears his name.
