Excursion to BGAMLI for students of the history department of BSU as part of the campaign «Archives for School»

On June 30, 2025, the Belarusian State Archives and Museum of Literature and Art (hereinafter referred to as BGAMLI) hosted 2nd-year students of the history department of the Belarusian State University as part of the republican campaign «Archives for School».

A specialized excursion was held for future historians and archivists, the purpose of which was to get acquainted with the unique funds of the archive-museum, which store the documentary heritage of outstanding figures of Belarusian literature and art.

Head of the Department of Information, Publication and Use of Documents of BGAMLI V.V.Birulya told the students about the history of the archive-museum, the main areas of activity and the most valuable exhibits. They learned about the features of working with archival documents, about the methods of their processing and preservation. Particular attention was paid to documents reflecting the history of Belarusian literature and art.

In the reading room of the archive-museum, students familiarized themselves with documents presented at exhibitions dedicated to the anniversaries of the People’s Poet of Belarus R.Borodulin and the People’s Artist of the USSR S.Stanyuta.

The «Archives for School» campaign is an important area of the BGAMLI’s activities aimed at increasing the interest of young people in the history and culture of Belarus. Such excursions help future historians and archivists gain invaluable practical experience in working with archival materials and contribute to the formation of professional skills.
