The website of the National Historical Archives of Belarus has hosted a virtual exhibition dedicated to the 215th anniversary of the start of construction of the Bobruisk Fortress

The National Historical Archives of Belarus has prepared and hosted on the archive’s website a virtual exhibition of documents «Citadel on the Berezina. For the 215th anniversary of the start of construction of the Bobruisk Fortress».

The construction began in 1810 and continued until 1836. The fortress was considered one of the best in Europe, played a significant role in the war of 1812. The funds of the National Historical Archives of Belarus have preserved documents related to the history of the fortress on the Berezina. The exhibition displays documents from 1810-1887, including general plans of the fortress, information about its construction, lists of military personnel, craftsmen and workers, documents about prisoners held in the fortress, about the Bobruisk disciplinary battalion.
