The State Archives of the Minsk Region took part in the events at the Mound of Glory
On May 9, the memorial complex «Mound of Glory» traditionally became the main venue for a large-scale celebration of Victory Day in the Minsk Region. Flowers were laid at the foot of the memorial by Governor Alexei Kushnarenko, Deputy Minister of Defense Alexander Naumenko, veterans of the Great Patriotic War, participants and guests of the celebration. The memory of those killed during the Great Patriotic War was honored with a minute of silence.
The areas near the Mound of Glory hosted exhibitions of the districts of the Minsk Region, an open-air museum, exhibitions of weapons and military equipment, a field kitchen, a tasting of bread made according to military recipes and much more.
The State Archives of the Minsk Region presented the participants and guests of the festival with exhibitions of archival documents: «Minsk Region – the Heart of Great Belarus» reflects the history of the central region since its formation, «Genocide of the Civilian Population in the Minsk Region During the Great Patriotic War» recalls the terrible tragedy that befell the residents during the Nazi occupation. The participants of the festival were especially interested in the exhibition «Memorial Complex «Mound of Glory», the documents of which tell about the construction and opening of this memorial site.
Also, as part of the general exposition of the regional archives, an exhibition of the Zonal state archive in Molodechno was presented, telling about the genocide of the Belarusian people during the war in the Molodechno, Vileika, Volozhin and Myadel districts.
