On May 8, 2025, on the eve of the anniversary of the Great Victory, the director of the State Archives of the Gomel Region Yuri Shestopalov visited veteran of the Great Patriotic War Nikolai Kasperovich. Active youth of Gomel and representatives of the regional and city committees of the Communist Party of Belarus also took part in congratulating the veteran.
Nikolai Kasperovich met the war in Gomel as a 15-year-old teenager. In August 1941, Nikolai and his family were evacuated by practically the last train that took people out of the burning city. Stalingrad, Orenburg, Tashkent and the final point of evacuation – Ashgabat. Here the guy began to study at a railway technical school, but left it and volunteered to fight. He was 17 years old. «The war spared no one. No one knew whether they would come out of the battle alive. But we were always sure: Victory will be ours», the veteran said, addressing the youth.
The veterans’ feat will forever remain in the memory of generations and will serve as an example of patriotism and love for the Motherland.
