On the excursion as part of the «Archives for School» campaign at the institution «State Archives of Public Associations of the Mogilev Region»
As part of the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory and the «Archives for School» campaign, on May 6, 2025, the institution «State Archives of Public Associations of the Mogilev Region» was visited by 2nd grade students of Secondary School No.8 in Mogilev.
A master class «Letters of Victory» was held for young visitors to the archive, where the children learned about the history of front-line letters, how the military field post office worked and who the soldiers wrote letters to. What was the soldier thinking about when, bending over a piece of paper, he hastily wrote a letter home – to his parents, wife, fiancee? Of course, about his family, about his comrades, about the war. He was in a hurry to share his joys and sorrows, troubles and victories, he was in a hurry to tell about his life as a soldier. His main concern is to calm his loved ones, to tell them that he is alive and well, fighting, beating the enemy, and to assure them that he will return victorious.
At the end of the excursion, a master class was held on making a front-line letter. The children prepared letters with words of gratitude to veterans of the Great Patriotic War, signed and decorated them with their own hands.
As part of this event, the children visited the museum room, which contains exhibits from the party and Komsomol times, allowing them to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of that time. The typewriter caused the greatest delight. A sightseeing tour of the archive storage was held, during which the students learned how documents are stored.
