On visiting monuments of the Great Patriotic War and laying flowers by employees of the institution «State Archive of Public Associations of the Mogilev Region»

On the eve of May 9, employees of the institution «State Archive of Public Associations of the Mogilev Region» laid flowers at the monument to Hero of the Soviet Union, Major General Ivan Sidorovich Lazarenko in Mogilev. His grave is located in the very center of the city, where he was reburied after the liberation of Mogilev on June 28, 1944. The archive employees came to honor the memory of the soldier who gave his life in the battles for the liberation of our city.

Back in the years of the First World War, Ivan Sidorovich Lazarenko became a full Cavalier of St. George. He was awarded 4 Crosses of St. George and 4 medals. His name is carved on a memorial plate among the names of other full Cavaliers of St. George in the St. George Hall of the Moscow Kremlin. On June 25, commanding a division, he died during the liberation of Mogilev. On July 21, 1944, he was posthumously awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union.
