About participation in the VIII International Scientific and Practical Conference «Actual problems of source studies»
On April 24-26, 2025, the VIII International Scientific and Practical Conference «Actual Problems of Source Studies» was held on the basis of Vitebsk State University named after P.M. Masherov. The Vitebsk Conference is held every two years and is one of the largest and most representative scientific events in the field of source studies in the post-Soviet space. About 200 researchers from educational institutions and research centers of Belarus, Russia, and Uzbekistan took part in the conference in full-time and part-time format.
The scientific forum was organized by the Faculty of Humanities and Communications of the Masherov Moscow State University, the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Faculty of History of the Belarusian State University, the National Archive of the Republic of Belarus, Udmurt State University (Izhevsk, Russia).
At the grand opening of the conference on April 24, the audience was greeted by the Vice-rector for Scientific Work of the Masherov Moscow State University, Ph.D., Professor E.Ya.Arshansky. In his speech, Evgeny Yakovlevich emphasized the importance and relevance of the conference, the wide geography of participants, as well as the richness of the program. In a remote format, the conference participants were greeted by the Deputy Director for Scientific Work of the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor P.A.Trubchik and Head of the Department of Source Studies at the Belarusian State University, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor S.N.Khodin. After that, the plenary session began, at which scientists from Russia and Belarus presented their reports.
The sections were attended by: U.A.Kolobaeva, head of the Publications Department of the NARB, graduate student of the History Faculty of the Belarusian State University (report «Fine art of the partisans of Belarus: a review of historiography and sources»); M.E.Tumash, researcher at the Publications Department of the NARB (report «Everyday ideas of citizens of the BSSR about happiness from letters to authorities and newspaper editors (1942-1986)»); leading archivist of the Department of Publications of NARB, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor O.N.Borovskaya (report «Listy-instructsii yak krynica savetska-polskikh admnosin 1921-1939»); E.A.Lukina, a leading archivist at the Department of Automated Archival Technologies of the NARB, a graduate student at the Faculty of History of the Belarusian State University (report «British leaflets as a source on the history of the Second World War»).
Special attention at the forum is paid to the events of the Great Patriotic War. A presentation of the NARB publications took place within the framework of the conference. The conference participants also got acquainted with the newsreel «The Story of the Great Victory», prepared by the Belarusian State Archive of Film and Photographic Documents.
