At the memorial sign «To fellow countrymen – liquidators of the Chernobyl accident»

Every year on April 26, a memorable date is celebrated – Chernobyl Tragedy Day in Belarus. On this day, people are remembered who courageously fulfilled their duty, risking their health and lives, and eliminated the consequences of the man-made disaster at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant.

It is the duty of each of us to remember the feat of people who fought against the nuclear disaster and protected generations from the global consequences of the disaster.

Employees of the institution «State Archives of the Mogilev Region» honored the memory of the liquidators of the Chernobyl disaster in the Bykhov district near the memorial sign «To fellow countrymen – liquidators of the Chernobyl accident». On the sides of the huge boulder are two black granite slabs. One depicts a medal of a participant in the liquidation of the Chernobyl accident. On the other – an exploded reactor, black birds, dark clouds, a radiation hazard sign and the words: «Budze, budze da skonu me Chernobyl balets».

April 26, 1986 remains the most terrible day in the history of nuclear energy. Humanity has learned a lesson from this terrible tragedy and is now doing everything to ensure that such a thing never happens again.
