On April 22, 2025, the employees of the State Archives of the Vitebsk Region held a Day of Remembrance dedicated to the heroism of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War
The State Archives of the Vitebsk Region and the Cultural Institution «Vitebsk Regional Museum of the Hero of the Soviet Union M.F. Shmyrev» have long-standing fruitful cooperation in the field of popularizing the history of the Great Patriotic War. Therefore, it was decided to hold a joint event – the Day of Remembrance dedicated to the heroism of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War, on the basis of the museum.
As part of the event, a premiere of a chronicle-documentary film prepared by BGAKFFD, «The History of the Great Victory», was organized. The films «Liberation of Belarus», «Liberation of Vitebsk» and «Operation Bagration» were also shown. Deputy Director Tatyana Vladimirovna Buevich acted as a speaker.
The lectures «On the genocide of the Belarusian people: restoration and preservation of historical justice», «From the history of the Vitebsk flying club» were given by the leading archivist Anton Nikiforovich Yupatov.
The speech of the archivist of the 1st category Maxim Konstantinovich Olefirenko was devoted to the demining of the territory of the Vitebsk region after its liberation.
The reports «Events of the Great Patriotic War through the eyes of eyewitnesses» and «Who defeated fate: the feat of Zinaida Mikhailovna Tusnolobova-Marchenko» were prepared by the head of the department Elena Mikhailovna Bondareva.
The relationship between the history of the family and the history of the country was reflected in the speech of the leading archivist Kristina Vadimovna Bogush «Historical memory: from archival heritage to a family album».
The event was attended by 76 history students of the Vitebsk State University named after P.M. Masherov.
During the event, quests and quizzes were held. The winners received as gifts publications about the Great Patriotic War, prepared on the basis of archival documents.
