On the participation of the institution «State Archives of the Gomel Region» in the event dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory

April 17, 2025 The State Archives of the Gomel Region organized a banner exhibition «Unconquered Gomel Region» in the foyer of the Mir cinema, where documentaries dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory were shown.

This is a photo-documentary project that includes the banners «Gomel Region on the Eve of War», «Gomel Region in Flames», «Nazi Genocide Policy», «Ozarichi Death Camp», «Dulag-121», «Sign of Trouble «Ost», «Test of War», «Partisan Gomel Region», «Liberation of the Gomel Region», «Nobody is Forgotten, Nothing is Forgotten». The visitors of the exhibition got acquainted with photo documents that tell about the pre-war level of development of the national economy, cultural institutions, public education, recreation parks, etc. of the Gomel region.

The greatest impression on the students was made by the documentary information from the period of occupation of Gomel by the Nazi invaders. The Nazi policy of genocide, death camps, mass deportation of civilians to Germany, devastation and famine – this is the policy of the German authorities, the so-called «German order».

Photo documents on banners dedicated to the liberation of the Gomel region by the Red Army troops and the perpetuation of the memory of the dead show at what high price the long-awaited Victory was achieved.

Archival documents and memorial sites remain the only witnesses of the unforgettable war years in the history of the Gomel region.
